What is Case Triage?
Case Triage is a daily workflow feature in Theator that helps you efficiently review and manage recently recorded cases. It surfaces cases that need your attention, so you can stay on top of your surgical activity without searching through long lists. You can access it by navigating to Cases in the sidebar and selecting Case Triage, or by going directly to /cases/case-triage.
Why Use Case Triage?
After a day in the operating room, there are often tasks that need follow-up: confirming participants, reviewing recordings, or checking that case details are accurate. Case Triage brings all of these tasks into one place, making it easy to handle them as part of your routine.
What the Triage List Shows
When you open Case Triage, you will see a list of cases that require attention. Each case card displays key information including:
- Procedure type and date
- Participants assigned to the case
- Recording status — whether a recording is available
- Flags or alerts — indicators for missing information, unassigned participants, or other items that need action
Cases are presented in reverse chronological order so the most recent ones appear first.
How to Review and Act on Cases
- Open a case by clicking on it in the triage list. This takes you to the full case page where you can watch the recording, review the timeline, and check all details.
- Assign participants if they are missing. You can add surgeons, residents, or other team members directly from the case page.
- Confirm case details such as procedure type, date, and room information.
- Add comments or evaluations if you want to note something for your records or share feedback with a colleague.
- Return to the triage list to move on to the next case.
Fitting Case Triage into Your Daily Workflow
Many Theator users find it helpful to check Case Triage once a day, either at the end of the surgical day or the following morning. A quick pass through the triage list ensures that:
- All cases are properly attributed to the right participants
- Recordings are accounted for
- No cases slip through without review
By making Case Triage part of your routine, you keep your case library organized and ensure that your data is accurate for analytics, quality reviews, and reporting.
Tips
- Check triage regularly to avoid a backlog of unreviewed cases.
- Use filters if available to focus on specific procedure types or date ranges.
- Collaborate with your team by assigning participants promptly so everyone has access to their cases.
