Overview
Theator uses a notification system to keep you informed about important events related to your cases, team activity, and system updates. Notifications are delivered through multiple channels so you never miss critical information.
Notification Channels
Theator delivers notifications through three channels:
- In-app notifications -- A bell icon in the top navigation bar shows your unread notifications. Click it to view a list of recent alerts and take action directly.
- Email notifications -- Important updates are sent to the email address associated with your Theator account.
- Push notifications -- If you use the Theator mobile app, push notifications are delivered directly to your iOS or Android device.
Types of Notifications
You may receive notifications for the following events:
- New case recordings -- When a new procedure is recorded and available for review.
- Case sharing -- When a colleague shares a case with you or grants you access.
- Access requests -- When someone requests access to one of your cases.
- Comments and tags -- When you are mentioned in a comment or tagged on a case.
- Weekly recaps -- A summary of your surgical activity from the past week.
- System alerts -- Important platform updates, maintenance windows, or infrastructure issues relevant to your site.

Managing Notification Preferences
To control which notifications you receive and how they are delivered:
- In the top-right corner of the platform, click your name, then select User settings.
- Open the Notifications tab.
- Toggle the Department, Personal, Activities, and Room Status categories on or off per channel according to your preference.
- Save your changes.
