Accessing Your Settings
To manage your personal settings and preferences, click on your profile icon in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar and select Settings, or navigate directly to /user-settings. The settings page is organized into several sections that let you customize your Theator experience.
Profile Information
The Profile section lets you view and update your basic account information:
- Name — Your display name as it appears across the platform
- Email address — The email associated with your account
- Specialty — Your surgical specialty, which helps Theator tailor content and analytics to your practice
- Profile photo — Upload or change your profile picture
Keep your profile information up to date so that colleagues can easily identify you when collaborating on cases.
Email Notification Preferences
The Notifications section controls which email notifications you receive from Theator. You can choose to be notified about:
- New cases — When a new case is recorded and available for review
- Comments and mentions — When a colleague tags you in a comment on a case
- Sharing notifications — When someone shares a case or collection with you
- Weekly summaries — Periodic digests of your surgical activity
Toggle each notification type on or off based on your preferences. You can always come back and adjust these settings as your needs change.
Recording Preferences
The Recording section lets you manage your personal recording policy:
- Opt-in or opt-out of automatic case recording
- Set your default preference for whether your cases should be recorded when you are the primary surgeon
Your recording preference is respected across all operating rooms where Theator is installed. For more details on recording policies, see the article on how to change your personal recording policy.
Display Preferences
The Display section allows you to customize how information appears in the platform:
- Language — Select your preferred display language
- Date and time format — Choose the format that matches your region
- Default views — Set your preferred landing page or default filters
Account Security
The Security section provides options to keep your account safe:
- Change password — Update your password at any time
- Two-factor authentication — Enable an additional layer of security for your account
- Active sessions — Review where your account is currently signed in
We recommend enabling two-factor authentication and updating your password periodically to maintain account security.
Tips
- Review your settings after onboarding to make sure everything is configured to your liking.
- Update your specialty if it changes, so your analytics and recommendations stay relevant.
- Check notification settings if you feel you are receiving too many or too few emails from Theator.
