Welcome to Theator
When you log in to Theator for the first time, you will be guided through an onboarding wizard that helps you set up your account and introduces you to the platform's key features. This guide walks you through what to expect so you feel confident navigating Theator from day one.
The Onboarding Wizard
After signing in with your credentials, the onboarding wizard launches automatically. It is a short, guided series of screens that gets you up and running quickly. The wizard adapts to your role and your organization, so you may see slightly different steps than a colleague at another site.
Welcome
The first screen greets you by name and explains that the wizard will personalize your Theator experience. Select Start to begin.
Tell us about yourself
The wizard asks a few quick questions so it can personalize your experience:
- Your role — select whether you are a Resident, Fellow, Attending, in a Leadership position, or Other. If you are a resident, you are also asked for your PGY year.
- Your specialty — choose your surgical specialty so Theator can show relevant cases and analytics on your homepage and tailor AI insights and best practices to your work.
- How you plan to use Theator — pick the goals that matter to you, such as accessing your surgical videos, collaborating with colleagues, simplifying training and education, or identifying quality initiatives.
Depending on your organization, you may also be asked for your NPI. You can update your role and specialty later from your settings.
Set your recording preference
If your organization lets you control your own recording policy, the wizard asks you to set your procedure recording settings. Choose one of:
- Record and save
- Record and save for 1 day
- Don't record
You can also select Use my organization's default to keep the setting your organization has configured. If your organization manages recording centrally, you will not see this step.
Explore your cases
Rather than a static feature tour, the wizard walks you through a sample clip and an interesting moment, then shows an illustrative chart of case insights to demonstrate how Theator surfaces efficiency metrics. Each exercise uses your own recorded cases when available; when real case data is absent for a given exercise, the wizard falls back to a representative sample for your specialty. If neither your own recordings nor a specialty sample is available for an exercise, that step is skipped.
Finish
When you complete the wizard, it closes automatically and you are ready to start.
After Onboarding
Once you complete the wizard, you will land on your homepage. From here, you can:
- Browse your recent cases
- Explore the sidebar navigation to access different sections
- Open the AI Assistant to ask questions about the platform or your data
