Can I record an open procedure?

Yes. Open procedures are recorded on Theator the same way any other case is — the difference is how the recording starts.

Why open cases work differently

Automatic recording is driven by computer vision that watches the video feed for the first scope insertion and the last scope removal, and uses those moments to start and stop the recording. See How does automatic recording work? for the full explanation.

An open procedure has no scope going in or out, so there are no visual cues for the system to trigger on. The recording has to be started by a person instead.

How to record an open case

Trigger the recording manually from the room page — either Start recording for the current or next case, or the camera toggle for cases already scheduled in the playlist. Can I manually trigger a recording of a case? walks through both.
