In Theator, you may occasionally come across a case that you do not currently have permission to view. This can happen when a colleague shares a link or when you find a case through search that belongs to another surgeon. Theator provides a simple way to request access directly from the platform.
How to Request Access
- Navigate to the Case: When you attempt to open a case you do not have access to, you will see a restricted access message instead of the case content.
- Click Request Access: On the restricted access page, click the Request Access button. This sends a notification to the case owner letting them know you would like to view the case.
- Wait for Approval: The case owner will receive your request and can choose to approve or deny it. You will be notified once a decision has been made.
What Happens After Your Request
- If approved: You will receive a notification confirming that access has been granted. The case will then be fully accessible to you, including the recording, timeline, and all case details.
- If denied: You will receive a notification that your request was not approved. If you believe you need access, consider reaching out to the case owner directly to discuss.
Who Receives the Request?
The access request is sent to the case owner -- typically the primary surgeon associated with the case. In some configurations, department administrators may also be able to approve access requests.
Tips
- Include context when possible. If your organization supports it, let the case owner know why you are requesting access (for example, for a quality review or teaching purposes).
- Check your notifications regularly for updates on your access requests.
- If you frequently need access to cases from a specific team or department, ask your administrator about adjusting your default access permissions.
The access request workflow ensures that case privacy is maintained while still enabling collaboration when needed.
