Overview
Live streaming allows authorized users to watch ongoing surgeries in real-time directly from the Theator platform. This feature supports remote observation, intraoperative collaboration, and teaching without requiring physical presence in the operating room.
Accessing Live Streams
To watch a live stream:
- Navigate to Rooms in the left sidebar.
- Select Room Status to see all operating rooms and their current state.
- Rooms with an active procedure will be clearly indicated. Click on an active room to open the live stream.
Features
- Real-Time Video Feed — Watch the surgical video feed as it happens, with minimal delay.
- Multiple Viewers — Several authorized users can watch the same live stream simultaneously.
- Remote Observation — Observe procedures from anywhere with an internet connection, supporting remote mentoring and consultation.
- Room Overview — The Room Status page shows you which rooms are currently active, idle, or offline at a glance.
Requirements
- Feature Enablement — Live streaming must be enabled for your organization. Contact your Theator administrator if you do not see the live streaming option.
- Authorization — Only users with the appropriate permissions can access live streams. Your organization's admin controls who has access.
- Network — A stable internet connection is required for a smooth viewing experience.
Use Cases
- Remote Mentoring — Senior surgeons can observe and provide guidance to trainees in real time.
- Intraoperative Consultation — Specialists can be consulted during a procedure without needing to be physically present.
- Teaching and Training — Residents and fellows can observe live cases as part of their educational curriculum.
- Administrative Oversight — Department leaders can monitor operating room activity and utilization.
Tips
- Check the Room Status page regularly to see which rooms have active procedures.
- If you experience buffering or connection issues, verify your network connection and try refreshing the page.
- Live streaming is view-only and does not interfere with the surgical recording or the procedure itself.
