How to Download a Case Video, Recording, or Clip

Downloading recordings or specific clips from the Case Page is straightforward. Follow these steps to efficiently save videos for offline review or sharing.

Why you might not see the Download button

If the Download button does not appear in the top right corner of the Case Page, download is usually not available for you rather than broken. The most common reasons are:

• Downloads are not enabled for your role. Whether you can download videos is controlled by your organization's admin. Your department may be set to No downloading, or downloads may be limited to selected roles only — in that case the Download button is hidden for you. To confirm or change your download permission, contact your Theator administrator. For an overview of the download modes, see Theator Permissions Overview.
• The case is still recording live. The button appears once recording has finished.
• The case has no recordings yet. If nothing has been recorded for the case, there is nothing to download.

If downloads are enabled for your role but the Download button or the Create a Custom Video form still does not appear, contact your Theator administrator or support team.

Download a Case Video from the Case Page

1. Access the Download Option:

   • Navigate to the Case Page of the recording you wish to download.

2. Click on the 'Download' button located in the top right corner of the page.

   

3. Create a Custom Video:

   • Once you click 'Download', a form titled "Create a Custom Video" will appear on the right side of the page.

   • Name Your Clip: The default name is suggested based on the procedure type and the case ID, but you can enter a custom name.

     

4. Select Video Type:

   • Download Full Video: Simply click "Submit Video" if no specific sections are needed.
   • Download specific sections: In case you want to download a specific sections and not the entire video.

5. Choose sections (if applicable):

   • If you choose to download specific sections, you'll need to select the desired sections based on timestamps (beginning and end).

   • Add Sections: Click the '+' button for each section you select. Repeat this for all sections you want to include in your download.

   • Submit Video: Once all sections are added, hit the "Submit Video" button to process your custom video. ​

Downloading with the AI Assistant

You can also ask the AI Assistant to download a case or a clip for you:

1. Open the AI Assistant and type a request such as "download this case" or "download the clip from 00:01:00 to 05:09:00".
2. The assistant proposes the download and shows a confirmation card that summarizes what will be downloaded.
3. Click Approve on the card to start the download. As with the manual flow, your video is then processed and you will be notified once it is ready.

Downloading through the AI Assistant uses the same download permission as the Download button. If downloads are not enabled for your role, the assistant cannot complete the download, and the approval may be declined — contact your Theator administrator to enable downloads for you.

Completion:

• After submitting the form, your video will be processed and made available for download. You will be notified once it is ready.

By following these steps, you can easily download a complete recording or tailored clips directly from the Case Page. This feature is designed to provide flexibility in managing and reviewing surgical recordings as per your needs.
